Pause.

I feel like so many of us are sleepwalking through life, so let’s take a step back for once.

There’s this incessant need to be doing something at all times; we work and go to school “full-time”, occupying significant chunks out of our days. But when there is free time we sit on our phones, or the laptops, or the TV, or we’re just too tired to do anything.

Pause.

There is so much more in the world that you are missing out on; so much that you aren’t taking in. Have you ever sat down somewhere, anywhere, by yourself and just observed free of all distractions, the magnificent beauty of the face of  nature or the fast pace hustle of the city?  3o minutes tops, shake off your troubles off and just relax. Commit to the moment.

There is so much more in the world that you are missing out on; so much that you aren’t taking in. Commit to the moment.

Pause.

The world is moving, painting vivid pictures with each turn and taking this time will help you be more aware of all that goes on around us, but more importantly will give you time to re-evaluate yourself and look inwardly. Rarely are we conscious of every word that exits our mouth in a day; the harsh or hurtful things said to or about someone, or the important things slipping your mind.

Pause.

Think about what you are doing, be aware of what implications that may ensue.

You will notice the gossip and slandering that you never realized you were doing before. The selfishness and disregard, the hurt or harm you may have caused.

Pause.

Are you sure that’s what you want seen of your character?  How you would like to be heard or remebered?

We all have our flaws we would like to improve on, and what we do without pausing often does nothing to better us.

Although you cannot literally press pause on a remote control for your life, you can take a few steps back often and reflect. Focus on the negativity you feel and turn them into positives. Pause and think about what you are doing and saying and its implications. Don’t force your body through constant routine. Invest your whole mind, heart and soul into your life.
